Communion, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ - [Reposted for Passion Week 2026]
The New Covenant: Thanksgiving article on the astronomical signs of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ
Introduction
This Thanksgiving, families and relatives will be gathering around the dinner table with a traditional turkey, a roasted ham, duck, chicken, lamb, or pork ribs with side dishes and pies ready for sampling. My extended family has given me the honor of leading Communion.
What does the Lord’s Supper represent?
Can we determine the actual dates of the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection? Are there signs in Heaven?
Was Jesus just a teacher, a Rabbi, a prophet, or the Son of God?
Here is a summary of the research over the past few years using Earthly records and Heavenly signs. May this article strengthen your faith in Jesus through the Blood of the New Covenant and inspire Giving Thanks.
There will be an invitation at the end of this article and a song of praise.
1. Thursday, April 2nd, 33 AD - The Lord’s Supper
On the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, the day of preparation for Passover,1 Matthew records the following events,
26 Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said,
“Take, eat; this is my body.”
27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you,
28 for this is my blood of the covenant,
which is poured out
for many
for the forgiveness of sins.
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version (Matthew 26:26–28). (2016). Crossway Bibles.
Scripture tells us this was the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the day of preparation for Passover.
2. Friday, April 3rd, 33 AD - The Crucifixion of Jesus on Passover
1When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.
2 And they bound him and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate the governor.
Matthew 27:1–22
24 So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”
25 And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” 26 Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.
Matthew 27:24–263
In Matthew 26:26, Jesus told the disciples to “Take, eat, this is my body”,
Jesus Himself was the final sacrifice that would atone for our sins. Believe in Him, repent, persevere, and follow the commands of Jesus Christ.
Similarly, every year, the Passover lamb signified the atonement for the sins of the Jewish people(Leviticus 16).4
Matthew 26:28, “This is my blood of the covenant.”
A covenant is a promise.
Jesus died on the cross on Friday afternoon. He becomes the sacrifice. His blood is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. This is the promise to those who repent and ask for forgiveness.
In the Old Testament, covenants were often ratified [i.e., approved, confirmed] using blood through the sacrifice of a lamb or goat. Just as Moses sprinkled the people with the blood of the covenant (Exod 24:8), Jesus is the new covenant, the new promise, for the forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:28).5
The elements of the Lord’s Supper serve as signs of the new covenant (Jer 31:31–34).6

3. The Paschal “Blood” Moon
Scholars believe Jesus was crucified on Friday, April 3rd, 33 AD. On that night, there was a Paschal [Passover or Easter*] blood moon as reported by Pilate and Cyril of Alexandria.**
*What does “Paschal” mean?
paschal(adj.)
“of or pertaining to Passover or Easter,” early 15c., from Old French paschal (12c.) and directly from Late Latin paschalis, from pascha “Passover, Easter,” from Greek pascha “Passover,” from Aramaic (Semitic) pasha “pass over,” corresponding to Hebrew pesah, from pasah “he passed over” (see Passover). Pasche was an early Middle English term for “Easter” (see Easter), and the older Dutch form of the word, Paas, was retained in New York.7
Thus “Paschal” = Passover = Easter.
In 2025, Passover began at sundown on April 12th, 2025, when the Paschal moon rises over the southeastern horizon.8 The following photo shows the Paschal moon, which appears blood red.
However, blood moons typically occur during a Total Lunar Eclipse. This was not a Total Lunar Eclipse.
So was the moon really blood red? Here is one theory,
When the moon is low on the horizon and viewed during dusk — just after the sun has set — it shines through the thickest part of Earth’s atmosphere. As with a sunset, that gives the moon a muted orangey color (rather than the stark, bright white color when it’s high up)because Earth’s atmosphere scatters short-wavelength blue light while allowing longer-wavelength reddish light to shine through.
The full moon can even look pinkish for a short time, depending on the atmosphere, but that’s not why April’s full moon is called the “Pink Moon.” That name actually comes from the spring bloom of a wildflower called Phlox subulata (or “moss pink”), which is native to eastern North America, according to Almanac.
This full moon is also known as the Paschal Moon and is used to determine the date of Easter (Pascha in Latin) each year. In 2025, Easter falls on Sunday, April 20.9

**Pilate recorded a blood moon the night of the Crucifixion of Jesus on April 3rd, 33AD.
At his Crucifixion the sun was darkened; the stars appeared and in all the world people lighted lamps from the sixth hour till evening; the moon appeared like blood’10
Cyril of Alexandria (412 AD), scholar, records,
After stating that there was darkness at the Crucifixion he adds, ‘Something unusual occurred about the circular rotation of the moon so that it even seemed to be turned into blood’, and notes that the prophet Joel foretold such signs.
Therefore, Pilate and Cyril of Alexandria document a blood moon the night of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. But there is also a Partial Lunar Eclipse that night.
4. The Blood Moon, Partial Lunar Eclipse and the Seed of the Woman
An excerpt from The Signs of the Four Horsemen - Chapter 3 - The Third Horseman

(source: Stellarium, from The Signs of the Four Horsemen)
On April 3rd, 33 AD, the moon is at the foot of the Virgin with a partial lunar eclipse.
This seems to highlight Genesis 3:15.
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
Genesis 3:15, ESV
Who is “he”? Paul writes,
The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Romans 16:20, ESV11
The Heavenly sign of the woman is found during Creation, Noah’s Flood, the Birth of Jesus, the Crucifixion, and the Revelation 12 Sign (Reference The Covenant Signs).
She carries the star Spica, the seed or branch, referring to Jesus, Son of God. Jesus shall bruise and soon crush Satan’s head, and Satan shall bruise the Seed of the Woman’s heel.
At this point, Satan believes He has won the battle. He has taken a “bite” out of the heel through the Crucifixion of Jesus on the cross. However, just wait… it’s all part of God’s plan.
4. The Cross and Christ The King Tramples Satan
Two other Heavenly observations are made when looking at Friday, April 3rd, 33 AD, when Jesus is taken down from the cross, the constellation Crux, or Southern Cross, is visible on the southern horizon in Jerusalem during this time, but is no longer visible today.
Furthermore, Jupiter, “His Star", tracked by the magi, is in Castor, within Gemini. According to Ken Fleming, Castor is the Ruling Judge. Jupiter is within three degrees of the star Mebsuta, denoting treading underfoot12.
A storyboard emerges where the King planet, in Christ the King, the Ruling Judge, is treading on the head of the serpent of old, Satan (Genesis 3:15, Psalm 91:13, Romans 16:20) through the Crucifixion.
It’s Friday, but Sunday’s coming for Jesus Christ is Risen from the dead.
5. He is Risen, the Crowned Lamb of God, put on the Full Armor of God
Three days later, the sky further proclaims His Glory on the morning of Easter Sunday, the resurrection of Jesus Christ, on April 5th, 33 AD when the sun rose at the foot of Aries.
This image was prophesied by John the Baptist early in the ministry of Jesus, which is fulfilled by His resurrection.
The next day he [John the Baptist] saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
John 1:29, ESV13
In the ancient Mazzaroth, Aries is known as the Sheep or Lamb (ancient drawings show a crowned Lamb).
Perseus in the Full Armor of God has the head of the demon and the constellation Pisces, symbolizing Christians, leap for joy,
Jesus died on the cross for us and was resurrected forevermore. His blood washes away the sin of the world.
Believe in Him, be ready for His soon return, and put on the Full Armor of God:
Shield of Faith
Sword of the Spirit
Helmet of Salvation
Breastplate of Righteousness
Belt of Truth
Shoes or sandals of readiness
Be ready to battle the serpent, scorpions, the Beast of the Sea, and the disembodied demonic spirits of the unseen realm.
The signs in Heaven and Earth reveal the omnipotence of our God Most High, His Son, Jesus Christ, the Strength of the Blood Covenant, and the Armor of God.
Timeline
To summarize,
Thursday, April 2nd, Nissan 14, 33 AD - is the Day of the Passover preparation beginning Wednesday at sundown and ending Thursday at sundown. [Night of the Last Supper]
Friday, April 3rd, Nissan 15, 33 AD - is the Passover Feast of Unleavened Bread, which began Thursday at sundown and ended Friday at sundown. There is a partial lunar eclipse at nightfall of the Day of Crucifixion and a Paschal blood moon.
Saturday, April 4th, Nissan 16, 33 AD - is Sabbath starting Friday at nightfall to Saturday nightfall.
Sunday, April 5th, Nissan 17, 33 AD is the First Day of the Week and Resurrection Day.
Probability of a Paschal Moon, Partial Lunar Eclipse, and a Blood Moon
A Paschal Full Moon happens once a year, thus once out of 365 days.
A partial lunar eclipse happens twice a month, thus 24 out of 365 days.
1/365 x 24/365 = 24/133,225 = 1/5,551 days = once in ~6000 days or -16 years = 0.00018However this astronomical event is even more rare. April 3rd, 33 AD was a blood moon casting blood red on the Crucifixion.
Yet Stellarium shows an unusual Partial Lunar Eclipse and not a Total Lunar Eclipse. Plus it was as at the foot of the woman who holds the Seed and Branch.
Moon traverses 12 zodiac signs in 27.3 days
Moon in the virgin ~2.5/28 days
At the foot of the virgin ~1/28 or less.
1/6000 x 1/28 = 1/168,000 days = 0.00000595 or once in ~460 yearsHowever, we witnessed a blood moon on April 12th, 2025, and so did the witnesses at the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This happens only when atmospheric conditions are just right.
Furthermore, apostles reported unusual astronomical events (i.e. 3 hours of darkness) and seismic events on Friday, April 3rd, 33 AD, the day of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, which cannot be explained here.
ABC: Admit, Believe, and Call
If you have not accepted Jesus as your Savior
Admit that you are a sinner
This is where that godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God, and there is a change of heart,
We change our minds, and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out.
Believe in Jesus the Savior
Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead.
This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was.
Call upon the name of the Lord
This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was.
Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings.
